Ms. Betty Jean Upshaw, age 67, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at approximately 10:44 a.m. at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on August 15, 1953 in Lima, Ohio to the union of Lucious and Viola (Hunter) Upshaw Sr., both parents preceded her in death.
Ms. Upshaw retired from Rudolph Foods after 25 years of service as an inspector. She attended Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, going to the movies as well as casinos. Betty also loved watching basketball and was a big fan of LeBron James. One of the highlights of her life was appearing on the Cash Explosion Show.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, 2 sons: Jason L Upshaw Sr. and Aaron D Upshaw, both of Lima. 3 grandchildren: Jason L Upshaw Jr. of Detroit, MI, Tarique L. Upshaw and Jaqaveous M. Upshaw, both of Lima. 3 sisters: Mariah Upshaw and Ethel Moore, both of Lima, and Melissa Kitchen of St. Louis, MO. 2 brothers: Fred Anderson and Glenn (Cheryl) Bennett both of Lima. Sister-in-law: Shirley Upshaw of Lima and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Lucious Upshaw Jr., Clarence Upshaw Sr., Arvid Bennett and Forest Anderson.
Home going services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Kelly, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m. also at the Church.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
