Mrs. Lucille (Dawson) Liles, age 92, passed from this life on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at approximately 5:44 p.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 19, 1928 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the union of Will and Hattie (Landers) Dawson, Sr.; both parents preceded her in death.
On February 2, 1980 she was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Hershel E. Liles, he preceded her in death on February 23, 1998.
Lucile received Christ in the year of 1944 and was baptized by Rev. George Pugh at St. James Baptist Church in Hurtsboro, AL. In 1951 Lucille came to Lima, Ohio where she joined the Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Amerson. She then became a faithful member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Latson. Throughout the years, she served as President of the Fidelity Choir and was one of the founding members of the Eden Singers. She also served on the Mother’s Board Ministry. Sis. Lucille was all about serving God and serving and loving people wherever she went.
The last years of her life until her health started to fail, she served at the Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev Robert Toney. Her passion was her family and a love for fishing. Lucille’s advice to the youth, `get Christ in your heart, put Him first, trust and believe all things are possible through Him.
In the early 1960’s she begin her employment at St. Rita’s Hospital. After 19 years of service she retired, however she returned back to the workforce at the Allen County Sheriff’s office where she enjoyed being introduced to computers and working with others.
Mrs. Liles leaves to cherish her precious memory a sister and best friend; Leola Scott of Lima. A host of nieces, nephews that she has been a great mother figure to. A very special acknowledgement to her niece; Ethel Newby for always being there.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Walter Lee Dawson, Ted Dawson, Will Dawson, Jr. and Harrison Lee Dawson. 6 sisters; Minnie Will Jackson, Hattie M. Dawson, Sally Colvin, Ceola Turpin, Ossie Lee Dawson and Sally M. Turner.
