Obituary of Mary Lee Wash

Mary Lee Wash, age 82, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at her residence in Detroit, Michigan. She was born on March 8, 1941 in Towncreek, Alabama to Harry James and Josephine (Harvey) Simpson. Both parents preceded her in death.

Mary was a member of Grace Church Worldwide Ministries in Lima, OH. She was formerly employed at Lost Creek Nursing Home. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Mary loved sitting on her front porch and watching the people go by. She was a great mother, grandmother, and mentor to all.

Mary leaves to cherish her precious memory 1son: Orlando Wash of Lima, OH.  7daughters: Veronda Turner of Indianapolis, IN; Jo Anna Wash of Lima, OH; Joyce (Wayne) Long of Phenix City, AL; Karen (Richard) Burton of Lima, OH; Jacqueline Wash of Lima, OH; Rosalind (Lamar) Walker of Detroit, MI; and Lorelita Wash of Lima, OH. 1 Brother: Danny (Kathy) Simpson of Lima, OH.  16 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. 2 special children: James (Shirley) Jones of Lima, OH and Debra Warren of Washington, D.C. and 1 special friend: Kaylean Watkins of Lima, OH. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Henry Hurley, Paul Simpson, Larry Simpson, and James O. Simpson.

Home Going Services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Church Worldwide Ministries with Elder Ronald Fails Officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held at the church on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
