Mrs. Mary Helen (Roberson) Owens, age 78, passed from this life on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at approximately 2:04 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born on June 29, 1943 in Courtland, Alabama to Cora Johnson, her mother preceded her in death. She was raised by her adoptive parents; L.V. & Lovennia (Johnson) Roberson, who also preceded her in death.
On January 30, 1960 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jimmie Lee Owens, Sr., he preceded her in death on May 9, 2014.
Mrs. Owens retired from Golden Living Center in Lima. She was a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory 3 sons; Thomas E. Owens, Michael A. Owens and Jimmie L. Owens, Jr. A daughter; Vivian Sites (Ronald) of Lima. 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A brother; Jackie Roberson (Diana) of Cincinnati, OH. 5 sisters; Sally Davis(Kenny), Glenda Ford (James), Gloria Moore and Barbara Downton (Michael) all of Lima. Rosa Luster of Dayton, OH. 5 brothers-in-law; Howard Payne, Dennis Payne (Valerie), Larry “Poncho” Payne (her special care-giver), Gary Payne and Calvin Payne (Angela). 2 sisters-in-law; Linda Hollingsworth (Jonathan) and Donna Thornton (Sylvester). A special niece; Coralea Johnson and a special nephew; Delvon Johnson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Frank E. Johnson, 2 brothers-in-law; Orville C. Owens and Louis Owens. A sister; Carrie M. (Roberson) Upshaw and a sister-in-law; Phyllis Taylor.
Home Going Services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. John E. Kidd, officiating.
Visitation/Wake will be held on, Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Funeral Home.
Interment – Dayton National Cemetery
