Mrs. Mary Lee Dixon, age 78, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at approximately 11:02 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born on August 18, 1943, to Rubin and Annie Dillard Sims Sr. Both parents preceded her in death.
She was united in holy matrimony to Oscar J. Dixon Sr. on October 25, 1961. Her husband survives in Lima.
Life to Mary was a gift and she wore it proudly and appreciatively. Her love for her church made her full of Grace and she lived her life with both grace and felicity as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was our Jelly Bean, hard on the outside and soft on the inside. She was God’s gift to us and through the sound of her voice and the music of her laughter are now denied us. We thank God for giving her to us and taking her from us peacefully.
Besides her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, she leaves to cherish her precious memory 1 loving son: Oscar J. Dixon Jr. (Marsha) of Lima. 2 loving, caring daughters; Pamela K. Gordon (Anthony) and Tina R. Townsend (Earnest), both of Lima. A sister and brother: Timothy (Luvenia) Glenn, Jr. and Fannie Sims and a uncle: Cullen Dillard, all of Lima. 13 grandchildren: Stacey Dixon, Anthony Townsend, Tameka Dixon, Andre White, Tavonna Pritchett, Demetrius Gordon, Alicia Townsend, Jamie Dixon, Jordan Dixon, Ashton Mitchell, Angel Townsend, Darius Gordon, and Joshua Dixon.22 Great-grandchildren. A special niece, Gwendolen R. Lane-Harvey and 2 special nephews: Snowden Gene (Malinda) Sims and Charlie (Barb) Fisher, Jr. A special great-niece, Kylen Lane-Harvey and 2 special great-nephews: Jakoby Lane-Harvey and Kudzal Kurapa. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter; Tavonna Faye (Judge) Pritchett. A brother: Rubin Sims Jr. 3 sisters; Pearl (Colling) Lane, Alberta Fisher, and Helen Sims. Her mother-in-law, Mary Lou (Willie) Brown. 2 grandsons: Anthony Pritchett and James Pritchett.
