Malcolm Douglass McCoy II transitioned on November 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, OH. Malcolm was born Friday, December 19, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Malcolm D. and Beverly L.O. McCoy.
He was educated at Christ the King Elementary School and Bishop Hartley High in Columbus, OH. He graduated from Lima Senior High School in 77’. He also attended Central State University. Malcolm worked for Columbus Fair Auto Auction, where he served as a local and long-distance driver, and the van driver of the other drivers. Malcolm retired due to health reasons and eventually moved close to Lima to enjoy time with his family.
He was a lifelong member of The Boys Scouts of America, where he earned the level of Eagle Scout. He was an usher at The Ohio State football home games for 25 years with the Boy Scout’s volunteers and a member of the Tuskegee Airmen Association Columbus Chapter. He survived multiple open-heart surgeries at 2, 10, 16, and 25 years old and frequent stays in the hospital.
He is survived by his Mother, Beverly L.O. McCoy of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Erin T. M. McCoy of Lima, Ohio, and Kelly L. M. Williams of Chicago, IL; nieces, Chelsea A. M. Williams of New York, NY, and Lindsay T. Williams of Ithaca, NY; his life partner, Pat Marshall of Columbus, OH and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his Grandmothers, Geraldine Tyler-McCoy and Eleanor Frazier-Owens; his dear Father, Malcolm D. McCoy I and Brother-in-law, Eric J. Williams.
He was a steady pillar of kindness, generosity, humor and openness. He brought out the best parts of us and will be more than missed.
