Luther Benton, Sr.

Mr. Luther Benton, Sr., age 79, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at approximately 4:10 p.m. at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born on October 22, 1941 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the union of Samuel and Viola (Harris) Benton; both parents preceded him in death.

On August 1, 1982 he was united in holy matrimony to Bobbie Jean Miller, she survives in Lima. 

Mr. Benton retired from Excello Corporation.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.

Besides his loving wife Bobbie, he leaves to cherish his precious memory 8 sons; John Irons of Texas.  Derrick Irons (Angela) and Jeremy Benton both of Columbus, OH.  Marcus Benton of Milwaukee, WI.  Paul Ward, Luther Benton, Jr. (Cory), Timothy Eckerson, Cecil Benton all of Lima.  2 daughters; Rosalyn (Pua) Burton of Lima.  Dyamela Youmans (Trenton) of Georgia.  34 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  A loving niece; Candi Crecy of Virginia.  A host of other relatives and friends.   

He was preceded in death by a brother; Henry Benton and a sister; Viola Dorsey.    A former wife; Lillie Bell Benton.         

Private family services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 12:00 noon at The Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.  with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward, officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery
