Lula Mae Curtis, age 99, passed from this life on Sunday morning, September 11, 2022, at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
She was born on December 28, 1922. Lula was the daughter of Lonnie and Elzater (Porter) Thompson, Sr. On April 16, 1945, she married Robert L. Curtis, Sr., who also preceded her in death.
Lula was a faithful member of Philippian M.B.C. where she was active with the Nurses Aide, Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee, and Choir. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Phyllis Wheatley #19. Lula was the last surviving member of the Fidelity Gospel Chorus.
She leaves to cherish her memory 5 sons: Roy C. (Marjory) Johnson; Pastor Robert L. (Joyce) Curtis, Jr.; Leslie E. (Cheryl) Curtis; Tony D. (Mary) Curtis, Sr. all of Lima, OH and Pastor David L. (Rosalind) Curtis, Sr. of Jacksonville, AL. 2 brothers: Chasie (Eilleen) Thompson of Huntsville, AL and Ester L. (Shirley) Thompson of Cherokee, AL. One sister-in-law: Christine Thompson of Cherokee, AL. 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Floyd Thompson, Lonnie Thompson, Sr., and Charles Thompson. One sister: Evelyn Gunn.
Home going services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Philippian M.B.C. with Rev. Robert L. Curtis, Jr. officiating.
Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. also at the church.
Interment – Woodlawn Cemetery
