Mrs. Louise “Darlene” Young, age 84, passed from this life into eternal rest on May 27, 2021 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton, Ohio.
She was born on August 20, 1936 in Belzoni Mississippi to the union of Modess and Nellie (Farmer) Hodges; she was the second youngest of her 5 sisters; Ethel Lee Davis, Queen Esther Jones, Jessie Mae Hodges, Emma Robinson and Eliza Jackson. All 5 of her sisters preceded her in death.
On December 27, 1961 in Lima, Ohio she married her husband of almost 60 years Leroy Young, Jr. To their union she birthed her only child, Ruby Ann Robbins, she preceded her in death. She and her husband raised her nephew; David Garner, Jr., he also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Young was affectionately known as Aunt Darlene by family and close friends. Besides being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother she loved to cook, go fishing, travel, entertain family, dancing and listening to her favorite music “The Blues”. Fashion was truly one of her many talents and her Sunday suites with matching hats and purses stood out amongst a crowd.
She served on the Usher board at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder F. D. Dunlap. In later years she joined Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member until her death.
Besides her loving husband Leroy Young, Jr., she leaves to cherish her precious memory, 2 grandchildren; Gerry Robbins, II and Janelle Robbins. 1 great grandson; Deron Jackson all of Toledo, OH. A host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
