Ashley Brownlow Jr. (AW) passed away Saturday morning, July 23, 2022 at Lima’s Memorial Hospital. AW was born to Ashley and Leanna Cooper Brownlow in Belzoni, MS on September 16th, 1948. His parents and two older sisters, Alberta Shurelds and Annie Mae Banks, preceded him in death.
He married his friend and love; Yolonda Jean Donaldson and they were blessed with two children during their marriage. After the divorce, they remained friends and traveling partners until Yolonda passed away in August of 2017. His second son Travis Brownlow was born of his union with Charlton Alverson.
AW was an experienced warrior in and on the field of life. He battled polio as a child and came back to be in negotiations with pro baseball teams. He battled a long addiction and came back to mentor and encourage many whose lives crossed his path. He faced his failures and committed to try and be better with each tomorrow.
His life passion was always sports and family. The latter years of his life were happier because he found family and friends with the Lima Warrior Football Team. He started with semi-pro football in 1997. He joined the Warriors in 2001 before the name Warriors was affixed. He served as an assistant coach, special teams coach, recruiter and liaison between coaches and players.
He leaves to remember and cherish his life, one daughter, Michelle Marie Oliphant, his two sons, Stephen A. (Jessica), Travis (Holly), a son of his heart Troy. He will be missed by his sister Lady Edna M. Owens of MD, his brother Joseph L. Brownlow of Lima, Ohio. 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. AW also leaves his beloved Warrior family, his companion and friend Carol Stemen and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
