Mr. Willis James Woodley,  age 100, passed from this life on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at approximately 9:40  a.m. at Springview Nursing Home in Lima.

He was born on July 28, 1924  in Lima, Ohio to Willie James and Maud (Jones) Woodley.  Both his parents preceded him in death.

He was a lifetime member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church; he dedicated his life to Christ at an early age under Pastor Rev. Leroy C. McGee.  He was a member of the Brotherhood and enjoyed Sunday school for many years. He was a graduate of Lima City Schools.

Mr. Woodley retired as a Molder at Ohio Teledyne Steel he was the first person on the Western Hemisphere to pour a high chrome, spin cast roll at Teledyne Ohio Steel.  After retirement he enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking for his huge family especially Sunday dinner.  He especially enjoyed living with and taking care of his mother (Maud) for many years until she passed away in 2000 at 96 years old. He was also a former member of the Elks.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory 3 step-daughters; Maria Chandler of Columbus, OH, Annette Jordan (Mac) of Dayton, OH and Jennifer Cook of Lima. 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  3 sisters; Barbara Stewart of Cleveland, OH.  Stella C. Clark and Ruth Ann Ward both of Lima.  A special nephew: Wendell Upthegrove of Lima . A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Clifford Woodley, Haskell Woodley, Donald Woodley, Edgar Jesse Woodley and Norman Woodley.  2 sisters; Dorothy Smith and Bernice Upthegrove.

Home Going Services will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025   at 12:00 p.m. the Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Madison, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025   at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
