Mr. Wash Carter, age 75, passed from this life on Monday, February 17, 2014 at approximately 10:39 p.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
Mr. Carter was born on May 10, 1937 in Hollandale, Mississippi to Josh and Odessie Carter, both parents preceded him in death.
On September 12, 1964 he was united in holy matrimony to Eva Pearl Tate who survives in Lima.
Mr. Carter formerly worked at Ford Motor Company as a supervisor, prior to opening his own car Dealership (Bixel Ford) in Bluffton, Ohio. He loved to drive and work on cars. He was a licensed FAA pilot. He was a graduate of Tuskegee Institute where he majored in Business Administration and Electrical Technology; he was also a member of the Tuskegee ROTC Corp. He was also involved in the Allen County Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. As a hobby, he was an amateur boxer.
Besides his loving wife, Eva, he leaves to cherish his precious memory a son, Stephen P. Carter. 4 sisters, Maggie Carter and Yvonne Spivey of Milwaukee, WI, Juanita Pugh and Lelia Carter of Long Beach, NY; 2 brothers, Josh (Georgella) Carter and Willie (Nancy) Carter of Milwaukee, WI. One aunt, L.B. Holmes of Chicago, IL. 3 cousins with whom he was raised, Carolyn Sippia, Muriel Harding and Debra Taylor. 4 sisters-in-law, Minnie Frager, Naomi Bradley, Lois Lavery and Jenetha Holmes. 2 Brothers-in-law, Charles Tate and Gerald Tate. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Vaness Carter, Sr. and Louis Carter.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with, Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward, officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will be held 1 hour prior to services at the Church.
