Mrs. Sonja Roberta Shurelds , age 74, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at approximately 3:10 p.m. at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on August 27, 1940 in Harlem, New York to the union of Joseph and Edith Bobson Whittaker; both parents preceded her in death.

On September 23, 1957 she was united in holy matrimony to Emzer Shurelds, Jr., he preceded her in death on July 7, 2000.

Mrs. Shurelds was a Homemaker, she loved to cook, bake and entertain family and friends. She especially loved Bid Whist.  She was a very loving mother and grandmother.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory son ; Emzer Shurelds III (Pastor Dianna) of Lima. Special son ; Lydell Jackson. 3 grandchildren ; Rashonna Allen (Joseph), Emzer John Shurelds (Monique) and Stephan Shurelds (Yaxaira). 4 great-grandchildren ; Micaiah, Amiyah, Elijah and Shawn. Brother ; Jimmy Whittaker (Judy) of Ft. Wayne, IN. 3 sisters ; Brenda Garner of Memphis, TN. Joanna Whittaker and Priscilla Whittaker-Bryant both of Ft. Wayne, IN.

Sister-in-law; Emma Shurelds. And a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter ; Shurelyn Shurelds. Sisters : Nancy Hughes, Eleanor Whittaker, and Vivian Whittaker, and 2 Brothers : Nelson and Colefield Whittaker.
