Mr. Santos Nuñez, Jr., age 77, passed from this life on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, with his loving and devoted wife by his side.

He was born on October 7, 1948, in Manhattan, New York, to Santos Nuñez, Sr. and Socorro (Torres) Nuñez, both of whom preceded him in death.

On September 14, 1973, he was united in holy matrimony to Julia L. Fleming, and to this union 52 years of marriage were shared. She survives in Lima, Ohio.

Santos was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having been drafted in 1968 and honorably discharged in April 1971 after serving during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Welder from General Dynamics after 33 years of dedicated service and was a proud member of Union Local 2075. Santos also volunteered his skills in support of veterans, including helping to build the Veterans Freedom Flag Monument and participating in a special welding project supporting the United States Marine Corps.

An avid sports enthusiast, Santos enjoyed basketball, golf, pool leagues, and chess. He coached and refereed girls' basketball for the City of Lima and proudly passed his love for the game on to his daughters. He also loved gardening and took great pride in his home, earning the City of Lima Pride Homes Award in 2014.

Santos was a member of Second Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Julia Nuñez of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Kwanzaa Socorro Nuñez of Atlanta, Georgia, and Santwinaa Tierra Nuñez of Indianapolis, Indiana; along with many loving relatives and friends.

Known for his warm spirit and friendly nature, Santos loved music and dancing and never met a stranger. He will be fondly remembered for his welcoming smile and his signature greeting, "Hey, My Brother!"

Visitation/Wake will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Jones & Clark Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Second Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward officiating.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
