Ms. Sandra Sue Smith, age 63, of Lima, Ohio, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 5:37 a.m. at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sandra was born on December 26, 1962, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Willie Smith and Easter (Evans) Smith, who both preceded her in death.
Sandra was a member of New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church. She dedicated 20 years of service as a preschool teacher with LACCA, where she touched the lives of countless children with her patience, kindness, and nurturing spirit.
Sandra found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid fan of the classic video game Ms. Pac-Man, a pastime she enjoyed almost as much as spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. She was known for her honest, straightforward personality and her willingness to "tell it like it is." Sandra's genuine heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for her family made her a treasured presence in the lives of all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving companion, Kendall Ward; her three children: two sons, Jonathan A. Smith and Laron N. (Charmaine) Johnson, both of Lima, Ohio; and one daughter, Jonte J. Johnson of Lima, Ohio.
She also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Jazquala Smith, Amiah Allen, JaNaz Smith Ay’onna Smith, Jordan Johnson-Glenn, Jontaja Glenn, Aubri Johnson, Danas Payne, Char'nay Simpson, Santana Simpson, and; and four beloved great-grandchildren: Ava Ames, Santana Simpson, Jr., Kaile'a Simpson, and Kamazi Simpson.
Sandra is also survived by two brothers, Curtis Smith and Wayne Smith, both of Lima, Ohio; one sister, Carolyn (LeWayne) Henson of Toledo, Ohio; a special sister Mary Simpson, and a brother, Ricky Smith of Lima, Ohio; one uncle, Richard (Debra) Gooding; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her granddaughter, JaQuasia Smith; five brothers, Willie Smith, Ed Smith, Freddie Smith, Michael Smith, and Gregory Davis; and one sister, Gloria Shurelds.
Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Location T.B.A.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
