Obituary

Mrs. Samella Casey (Baugh) affectionately known as “Sam”, age 79, peacefully passed from this life on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 10:23 a.m. at her residence, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Samella was born on July 5, 1947, in Florence, Alabama, to the union of Henry and Margaret (Smith) Baugh, both of whom preceded her in death.

On November 21, 1984, Samella was united in marriage to her loving husband, Kenneth W. Casey. Together, they shared more than 41 years and 11 months of love and companionship.

Samella dedicated many years of service to General Motors before retiring. She was also an active member of UAW Local 1211. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Usher Board.

Known for her outgoing personality, impeccable fashion sense, and unmistakable style, Samella had a presence that could not be overlooked. Her peers and loved ones affectionately remembered her as an “all-around boss,”. Above all, Samella treasured her family.

Samella leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband, Kenneth W. Casey; three sons, Ronald L. Manley of Columbus, Ohio, Gerald K. Manley (Michele) of Lima, Ohio, and Maurice M. Manley (Tana) of Pickerington, Ohio; two daughters, Cheryl E. Gilcrease (Ronnie) and Alisa Monique Noel, both of Lima, Ohio; and three grandchildren whom she lovingly raised: Dontae L. Noel (Jacqueline) of Marion, Ohio, Markysha A. Martin, and Markellis D. Martin (Hannah), both of Lima, Ohio and 17 grandchildren. A cousin whom is a sister of the heart Mellitie Thompson of Florence, Alabama. As well as host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.

In addition to her parents, Samella was preceded in death by her sons, Rozelle Shawn Manley and Christopher Steven Baugh; and her son of the heart, Greg Sims. Her brother, John H. Baugh “Mickie”.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the lives she touched, and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy will continue through the family she cherished and the many people who were blessed to know her.

Homegoing services for Samella Casey will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Thom K. Sneed, eulogizing. Family and friends are invited to gather for a public viewing two hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.at the church.
