Mrs. Ruthie Mae Spaulding, age 89, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at approximately 12:34 p.m. in Defiance, Ohio surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on August 20, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Ulies Grant and Julia Morzell (Bridges) Jones, Sr., both parents preceded her in death.

On November 15, 1947 she was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Church Spaulding, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 2, 2011.

Mrs. Spaulding worked as a Teachers Aid in the Lima City Schools for many years.  She was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Choir, Usher Board and Sunday School Teacher.  She a member of the Ministers Wives organization.   She worked at Mizpah and Christ Temple Church for many years also as a Teachers Aid.  She was a former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Tariq IbN (Church Spaulding) of Lima.  7 daughters; Treva Brown, Denise Jones (Eldridge), Inel Wright (Darrell) and Felecia Spaulding all of Lima.  Vernna Burge of Defiance, OH.  Judy Steadman (Alonzo) of Akron, OH and Constance Samuel (Chris) of Detroit.  31 grandchildren; 83 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.  A brother; Walter Jones of Toledo, OH.  2 sisters; Bertha Lewis of Detroit, MI and Barbara J. Lewis of Flint, MI.  A special nephew; Ben Lewis of Detroit, MI.   A caretaker; Doris Rowley of Defiance, OH.

She was preceded in death by  infant twins,   5 grandchildren.  2 brothers; James O. Jones,  Ulies Jones, Jr. A sister; Elizabeth Jones.  A daughter-in-law; Elizabeth Spaulding and a son-in –law; William G. Burge.

Services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018  at 1:00 p.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Earnest Stephens, Jr.,  officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.
