Mrs. Ruby Odesser Freeman, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at approximately 11:45 p.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on June 27, 1925 in Eutaw, Alabama to the union of William and Elizabeth (McCalpine) Johnson, Sr.; both parents preceded her in death.

On January 25, 1946 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jimmie Freeman, Jr, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2013.

Mrs. Freeman retired from Westinghouse after many years of service.   Her passion was shown in her giving of self to others.  If it was a shoulder to lean on or simply an ear to listen, she shared her strength as well as her compassion for others.  You just couldn't beat her when it came to going to see about someone, she loved doing it.  Her strength and humility were two of her best traits.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Jimmie Lucas Freeman (Regina) of Lima.  2 daughters;  Shirley Freeman-Henderson (John) and Delois Lewis both of Lima.  3 brothers;  William Johnson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA. Rufus Johnson (Myrtle) of Lima and Smith Johnson of Passaic, NJ.  3 sisters;  Osie Mary Powell and Bernice Molten both of Lima.  Eloise Johnson of Passaic, NJ.   She was blessed with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 daughters;  Dorothy Jones and Elizabeth Brown.  A brother; Eddie Johnson and 2 sisters;  Betty Walton and Myrtle Shambley.

Services will be held on Monday,  September 26, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Toney, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will held at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.

Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery
