Ruby Gaynell Hughes, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at approximately 12:20 p.m. at Elmcroft Senior Living in Lima. She was born on July 4, 1929 in Phoenix City, Alabama to the union of Dave and Celia Grant Clay; both parents preceded her in death. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Earl T. Hughes who preceded her in death on July 10, 1996. Mrs. Hughes previously cooked for the Paddle Restaurant, Anthony Brothers Restaurant and Jim's Steakhouse. She most recently worked in the Laundry Department at Lima Convalescent Home. She was a member of Wings of Deliverance Church of God In Christ in Lima. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, 4 daughters; Evelyn F. Corey of Lafayette, GA. Celia A. Reynolds and Cynthia Davis (Elder Ronald) both of Lima. Constance E. Dillard of Akron, OH. 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. 2 sisters; Lula B. Tomlinson and Alice R. Doyle both of Lima. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Betty J. Brown, a sister; Annie M. Nathan and 2 brothers; Cornell Clay and Willie Clay. -
