Robert Lee Spivey, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at approximately 5:45 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

Mr. Spivey was born in Inverness, Mississippi on January 24, 1946 to the union of Earnest and Sammie McGuire Spivey, Sr.,  both parents preceded him in death.

On November 18, 1972 he was united in holy matrimony to Geraldine Amerson, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Spivey worked at B. P. Chemicals in the Nitrogen Maintenance Dept.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Bible School Teacher. He was a member of Concerned Christian Men, Member and former president of Ohio Layman's Northwest District Association and President of the Lima Male Chorus.  He was a member of Big Brothers-Big Sisters and a Lima City Schools volunteer.

Besides his loving wife Geraldine he leaves to cherish his precious memory a son;  Eric T.   Spivey (Mary Teresa) of Pickerington, Ohio.  A daughter; Ericka S. Spivey of Lima.  2 grandchildren:  Tiara Spivey and Tiana Spivey both of Lima.  6 brothers;  Earnest Spivey, Jr., of Inverness, MS, Jerry Spivey (Emma), Freddie L. Spivey (Teresa) both of Lima.  Mack Arthur Spivey of Atlanta, GA.  Willie E. Spivey of Virginia.  Billy J. Spivey of Memphis, TN.  2 sisters;  Velma J. Tigues (Andrew) of Maryland and Linda A.  Spivey of Memphis, TN. A special brother; Willie McGuire (Jean) of Lima.  3 aunts; Ida Mae Smith of Lima and Classie Spivey of Drew, MS.  A uncle; John McGuire.  A brother-in-law; Major Amerson (Kathleen) of Lima.  5 sisters-in-law; Margaret Jenkins (Jerry), Catherine Lindsey, Patsy Henderson, Loretta Tolbert (Jimmie) and Rosetta Amerson. 2 Godchildren; Andrea G. Amerson and Isaiah Hill.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Lloyd Spivey, a sister; Lillie B. Babb,  3 aunts;  Nettie Davenport, Fannie Ester and Mariah Shedd.  An uncle;  Major McGuire, a brother-in-law; Phillip Henderson and a sister-in-law; Helen J. Hall.
