Obituary of Richard John Mark Hutchins

Richard John Mark Hutchins, age 50, passed from this life on Sunday, September 10, 2023.  He was born in Lima, OH on August 30, 1973 to Thomas Lee (Amida) Hutchins, Sr. and Rita Jean Upthegrove.  His mother preceded him in death.  His father survives in Lima, OH.

Richard was a manager for the Toledo Unemployment Office for the State of Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was a member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Video Committee.  He was a member of the American Legion #96, a member of the Westgate Bowling League, and treasurer of the Lima Music Academy.  He enjoyed interior designing, event planning, gardening, and he was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team.  He was the life of every party and a friend to everyone he met.  Richard brought laughter and joy to every situation.

Richard leaves to cherish his precious memory a daughter: Treilynn M.D. Hutchins of Paducah, KY.  His significant other:  LaVarous Tolbert of Lima, OH.  5 sisters: Rae-Jean (Bobby) House of Lima, OH; Rochelle Upthegrove-Hutchins of Pittsburgh, PA; LaShala Hutchins of Lima, OH; Brandy (Juston) Patterson of Columbus, OH; and Adrienna Hutchins of Bowling Green, OH.  3 brothers:  Thomas L. Hutchins, Jr. of Lima, OH; Jerry Hutchins of Columbus, OH; and Adrian Hutchins of Franklin Springs, GA.  1 granddaughter:  Kennedi Conley of Paducah, KY.  Special aunts: Ida L. Garrett, Dorothy Parks, LaVerdia Duncan, all of Lima, OH and Ora Lynn Scott of VA.  Special uncles:  David (Dee) Upthegrove  of Parrish, FL; Mark (Ereen) Upthegrove of Hampton, VA; and Wiley Hutchins of Lima, OH.  His best friend Keith Walker of Columbus, OH.  Sister Friends: Camille Thompson, Cincinnati, OH; Tasha White, Columbus, OH; Gwen Thompson, Lima, OH; Theresa Dancer, Lima, OH; Lakisha Cunningham, Murfreesboro, TN; and Theresa Barcus, Lima, OH.  Special Cousins: Eric Upthegrove, Sr., Jason Upthegrove, Sr., Gena Senegal, Reese Gable, Rissa Gable, Valerie Hutchins, Vickie Hutchins-Palin, Traci Carter, Kelli Garner, Nikita Bolden, Netta Bolden, Kimberly Davis-Battle, and Michael Upshaw.  Special Nieces and Nephews: Eric Irons Jr., Ravon Upthegrove, Antoine Roberson Jr. DeQuavious House, Sr., Altonese House, Bobbie House, ShaRiyah House.  Godchildren: Tiana Cunningham, Torrick Cunningham, Ejon Woods.  2 Grand Godsons:  Izaiah and Ejaun Ramsey and a host of other relatives and friends.

Home Going Services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. B. Lamont Monford Officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. also at the church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
