Rev. Frank Chilton was born December 21, 1928 in McRoberts, Kentucky, to Harvey and Rosetta Chilton. He grew up in a large family alongside his siblings Robert, Thomas, Douglas, James Eugene, Sadie Mae Adams and Edward.
He and Electra Verna Coleman began corresponding as pen pals in the late 1940s, and he married her on May 31, 1949. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family and raised three daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Electra Chilton; his daughter Rosanne Chilton, Beverly Lee (Eddie), and Frannessa Hills (William).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Rosetta Chilton; all of his siblings; and his grandson Fanco Harden,
Frank served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. After returning home, he worked for Teledyne Ohio Steel as a crane operator for more than 27 years before retiring in 1992.
In 1973, he was called to ministry. He earned both his Associate and Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Northwest Bible College and was ordained as a minister. Over the years, he served as a deacon at Greater First Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio; as Associate Pastor of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church; Pastor at First Baptist Church in Paulding, Ohio; as Associate Pastor at Second Baptist Church, and later at Community Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio. Then returning as Associate Pastor at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church.
Frank was a devoted husband and father. He spent time with his daughters teaching them practical skills and making sure they were prepared for life and found joy in providing for his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and took great pride in his roses and lawn care.
In his later years, he and Electra enjoyed spending time with their family, including (9) grandchildren, (22) great-grandchildren, and (7) great-great- grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Rev Frank Chilton will be remembered for his faith in God, his commitment to his family, and the steadfast way he lived his life.
Funeral Services for Rev. Frank Chilton, will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 4th Street Missionary Baptist Church. A viewing will be held one hours prior to the service.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
