Ola Mae Armstead, age 86, passed from this life on Monday, March 13, 2017 at approximately 8:20 a.m. at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima.

She was born on March 11, 1931 in Florence, Alabama to the union of Chester and Lillie (Smith) Stewart; both parents preceded her in death.

She retired in 1987 from St. Joseph Health Systems Housekeeping Department in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She also worked at St. Rita's Medical Center and Lima Memorial Health Systems.  She was a member of Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 3 sons; James Thomas, Jr. (Cheryl) and Edward G. Thomas both of Lima.  Eugene Burks (Tammy) of Ypsilanti, MI.  A daughter;  Lisa Armstead of Lima. 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.  A son-in-law; Lamar McDowell of Lima.  A nephew she raised; Ronnie Gaston of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a son: James L. Stewart, a daughter; Shirley McDowell.  A sister; Pearlene Walker.  6 brothers; James Stewart, Henry Stewart, Eriah Stewart, Lee Ester Stewart, Richard Stewart and Roosevelt Stewart.

Services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church, at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Toney, officiating.

Visitation/wake services will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m. also at the church
