Mrs. Melba Edna Simpson, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at approximately 6:42 a.m. at her residence in Lima, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on August 30, 1948 in Delaware, Ohio to Frank Banks and Violet Dickerson. Both parents preceded her in death.
On December 23, 1981 she was united in holy matrimony to James O. Simpson who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Simpson worked at Golden Living Care Center as a Certified Nurse's Assistant, where she retired after 28 years of service. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Board, Nurses Guide and the Kitchen Committee. She was the Chapter leader of SEIU Union of District 1199. She was an avid reader and writer and she loved her family and praising the Lord.
Besides her loving husband James, she leaves to cherish her precious memory 4 sons; Robert Herron (Debbie), Melvin Herron (Stephanie) and Edward Herron (Lexie) all of Lima. Willie Herron (Tami) of Delphos, OH. 3 daughters; Annette Senna (Thomas) of Defiance, OH and LaRhonda Davis (Calvin) and Tiffany Herron all of Lima. 3 stepchildren; Robert Simpson and Connie Washington (Steven) both of Lima. Cilisa Wade of Toledo, OH. 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. 3 brothers; Charles Smith and Louis Smith both of Marion, OH. Floyd Smith (Betty) of Reynoldsburg, OH. A sister; Francis Smith of Marion, OH. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. A loving dog Magic.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Celeste Crowders. 3 sisters; Beaulah Smith, Evelyn Banks and Dorothy Robertson. 2 brothers; Eugene Smith and James Smith.
