Ms. Mattie Lee Henderson, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at approximately 5:15 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems.

She was born on February 7, 1937 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Henry S. and Annie Mae Petaway Jones, Sr.; her father is deceased and her mother Annie M. Petaway Jones Brown survives in Lima.  In September of 1956 she married John E. Henderson and they divorced in 1980, he preceded her in death on October 6, 2008.

She was a graduate of Lima Senior High School and attended Lima Technical College to study Bookkeeping/Accounting.  Ms. Henderson previous worked the Leader Store and the Lima News.  She retired from the accounting/customer service department at Ohio Power now known as American Electric Power.  After her retirement she worked at American Sun Space, the American Red Cross and Nationwide Insurance.   She was a member of Second Baptist Church.  She was a loving and compassionate mother who enjoyed, landscaping and shopping, she will be truly missed by her family.

Besides her loving mother she leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Wendell T. Henderson of Lima.  A daughter; Rhoda E. Henderson-Edwards (Rickey) of Lima.  3 grandchildren; Tiffany S. Henderson, Kimberly A. Henderson and Suerethia C. Henderson. 3 great-grandsons.  3 brothers; Henry Jones (Betty) of Detroit, MI.  William M. Brown, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Booker T. Brown both of Lima. An aunt; Margaret Petaway Daniels.   Several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her step-father; William M. Brown, Sr.

Entombment will be held at the Woodlawn Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016, with Rev. Dennis Ward, officiating.
