IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Ray
Sanders
July 31, 1962 – June 26, 2025
Mr. Marvin Ray Sanders, age 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Born on July 31, 1962, in Lima to the late Willie Lee and Harriett (Armstead) Sanders, Marvin was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Marvin was blessed to share life and love with his wife of nearly 15 years, Kristina Ferguson who survives him.
Marvin was a proud veteran of the United States Navy who dedicated much of his life to hard, honest work. Throughout the years, he held various general labor positions, always bringing a strong work ethic and steady hands to every job he took on. He also served faithfully on the Board of the American Legion Post #96, continuing his commitment to service and community. Known for his reliability and generosity, Marvin never hesitated to help those in need.
Marvin was a man who rarely missed a family function. With a quick wit, a big laugh, and an even bigger heart, Marvin made everyone feel welcomed. His family roots ran deep—his mother had 17 siblings—and he made it his mission to stay connected to every branch of the family tree. Whether it was a reunion, a birthday, or a backyard cookout, Marvin was always there, bringing joy, laughter, wit, and support.
He had a love for the simple pleasures in life—playing the slots, cheering on his favorite sports teams, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kristina, and his children: Matthew L. Sanders (Kayla) of Maryland, Qoice R. (Rayvon) Sanders of Detroit, MI, Sean A. Ali of Fort Wayne, IN, Isaiah M. Sanders and Jacob Ferguson, both of Lima, and his daughter, Katia L. Thompson (Anthony) of Dallas, TX. He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren.
Marvin is also survived by his brother, William L. Wallace (Angela) of Indiana, and two sisters, Carmillia Zion and Demetra Sanders, both of Lima, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael A. Sanders.
A celebration of Marvin's life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Janet Wend officiating. Visitation will take place the same day beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Marvin will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his ability to light up any room, and the lasting legacy of strength and kindness he leaves behind.
