Mrs. Maggie Ruth Breaston age 94, transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on, Friday, August 16, 2024, in Lima, Ohio.
Mrs. Breaston was born on June 15, 1930, in Florence, Alabama to Gibb and Annie Mae (Hooten) Jackson, both parents preceded her in death.
On June 16, 1957, she was united in Holy matrimony to Mr. Jabel Breaston, Jr. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Lima. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1985, in Lima, Ohio.
Mrs. Breaston joined the staff at St. Rita's Medical Center in 1953 and became a licensed practical nurse in 1956. She held that position for four decades before she retired. But even in retirement, she had not completely stopped working as a nurse; she would often come in to help other nurses when St. Rita's needed her. She was honored for her service to the hospital in 1998 and had been honored as Ohio's LPN of the Year by the LPN Association of Ohio. In May 2001, she was honored with a Legends of St. Rita's award.
Mrs. Breaston was a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church for many years in Lima, Ohio where she became a licensed Evangelist. After she moved to Texas to be with her children she joined Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Byron Breaston. 4 daughters; Carol Square, Tanya (Roger) Banks, Jacqueline Breaston, and Tiffini Erinle all of Missouri City, Texas. A special Daughter-in-Love; Addie LaGale Jeffers of Missouri City, Texas. A brother; Bill Jackson (Barb) of Lima, Ohio. A sister; Gloria Alexander of Lima. OH. 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Breaston was preceded in death by 3 brothers: James Jackson, Jasper Jackson, and Edgar Jackson. 3 sisters; Georgia Newsome (Robert J.), Mildred Jackson (her twin), and Annie Fuller.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul A.M. E. Church in Lima, Ohio
