Mae Will Arrington , 96, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Mae Will was born August 2, 1920 to the union of Perry and Annie (Williams) Carter, in Midland, Georgia, her place of birth. She grew up as one of eight children. Mae is preceded in death by all her siblings, James Carter, Annie Perry (Carter) Thomas/Lindsey, Laura (Syl) Carter, Jeffry (Carter) Dillion, Andrew Lee (Carter) Freeman, Doris (Carter) Anderson, and Samuel Carter.
Mae was a strong, committed and dedicated member of Allen Temple AME Church since accepting Christ. She served as a missionary, stewardess, trustee, a mother of the church and one of the Daughters of Allen to name a few.
Mae married Buster Breakfield, in Columbus, Georgia, who precedes her in death, through this union was born one daughter, Cynthia (Breakfield) Thompson. In April, 1978, Mae married Jodie Reese Arrington of Columbus, Georgia, and together they raised a son, Joe Arrington.
Mae Will worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Francis hospital for several years before doing Private Duty Nursing until her retirement.
Wanting to make a difference in her community, Mae Will became active with CHAD [Carver Heights Against Drugs] and marched the streets against drug activity. Being an avid gardener, Mae raised vegetables and flowers and was featured in her local newspaper. She was a seamstress, and an inventor who loved life, bowling, swimming, cooking and food.
Mae Will is survived by her husband, Jodie Arrington, her daughter, Cynthia Thompson (Richard) (of Lima, Ohio), her son Joe Arrington ( Deborah) (of Macon, Georgia), her grandchildren Thelithia Thompson-Banks, Tara Holman (Benjamin), Michael Thompson (Diana), Marla Lacey (Brian), Jennifer Ray ( Jason), Teddrick G. Williams (Tamara), Jodie S. Arrington, and Deah S. Arrington as well as her eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 12 noon at In Faith Ministries, 1575 High Street, Lima, Ohio
