Mrs. Laura Marie Pankey, age 99, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2014 at approximately 10:44 a.m. at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Pikeville, Tennessee on June 5, 1914 to the union of James William and Fannie Marie Roddy Swafford, Sr.  Both parents preceded her in death.

On November 20, 1937 she was united in holy matrimony to Rev.  Reedval Pankey who preceded her in death on March 15, 1994. To this union was born one child, Anna Jones who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pankey was a member of Beulah's Chapel Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God, where she served on the Mothers Board, Deaconess Board and was Treasurer. She worked as a Housekeeper for the Timmerman family for over 40 years.

She leaves to cherish her precious  memory, five grandchildren, Cheryl Jones, Karen Jones, Chandra "Lucy" Burke, Craig Jones and Trent Jones.  24 great grandchildren and 39 great-great grandchildren.  4 nieces, Mary Jane Johnson, Costella Mack, Geneva Stapleton and Earlene Foster.  5 nephews, Rozelle Foster, Alfonso Foster, James Foster, Crawford R. Foster and Allen Avery

She was preceded in death by a brother:  James W. Swafford, Jr. and 3 sisters, Zimma Lee Swafford, Maggie Johnson and Louella Foster.
