Johnny Lee Upshaw Obituary

Johnny Lee Upshaw, age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 7:11 a.m. at Kindred Hospital in Lima, Ohio.  He was born on December 27, 1936, to Frank and Mariah (Mark) Upshaw in Pittsview, Alabama.  Both parents preceded him in death.

Johnny married Johnnie L. Pollard on July 3, 1958.  She survives him in Lima, Ohio.

He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  Johnny retired from the Lima Ford Plant where he worked assembly.

He leaves to cherish his memory, 2 sons:  Timothy L. (Linda) Upshaw, Sr. of Lima, OH, and Pastor Snowden Gene (Melinda) Sims of Columbus, OH.  2 daughters:  Teresa Upshaw-Nichols of Lima, OH, and Angela (Dennis) Perry of Atlanta, GA.  3 sisters:  Bessie M. Gordy of Pittsview, AL; Bertha Allison of Gary, IN; and Elizabeth Peterson of Fort Meyers, FL.  3 sisters-in-law:  Marva Upshaw of Lima, OH; Shirley Upshaw of Fort Meyers, FL; and Corene (Joshua) Duffie of Salem, AL.  3 brothers-in-law:  Fletcher Pollard of Fayetteville, NC; John (Mattie) Pollard of Fayetteville, NC; and Leroy (Patricia) Pollard of Fayetteville, NC. 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by a son:  Daryl D. Upshaw, Sr., and a grandson:  Timothy L. Upshaw, Jr.  2 sisters:  Ethel Gordy and Mary B. Hardin.  7 brothers:  Frank Upshaw, Luscious Upshaw, Ralph Upshaw, James Upshaw, Matthew Upshaw, Roosevelt Upshaw, and Legustia Upshaw.

Home Going Services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Kelly officiating.

Visitation/Wake Services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. also at the church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
