Mr. John Wesley Jackson, Sr., age 89, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at approximately 5:23 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
He was born on August 21, 1926, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the union of Will and Sarah Mason Jackson; both parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Jackson retired from General Motors after over 33 years of service; he was also a member of U.A.W. Local Union #211. He was a member of Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church and loved fishing and telling "Big Fish" Stories. He loved gardening, working in the yard and hunting.
On September 15, 1946, he was united in holy matrimony to Lee Vosia Brown; she preceded him in death on December 3, 2004. He leaves to mourn Redie Lucas, his companion.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory 3 sons: Leroy Jackson (Romaine L.) of Lima, Barry Jackson (Gladys) of Columbus, Ohio and Derrick Jackson of Nashville, Tennessee; 2 daughters: Willa Jackson of Columbus, Ohio and Sheri (Ernesto) Gracia of Bowling Green, Ohio; 31 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons: John W. Jackson, Jr. and Marcus Jackson, a daughter, Stella Dumas and a brother, Ernest Jackson.
