Mr. Joe Louis Turner, age 78, passed from this life on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at approximately  7:44 p.m.  at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

He was born in Florence, Alabama on January 6, 1938 to the union of Nathaniel and Clara (Martin) Turner, both parents preceded him in death.

On November 20, 1984 he was united in holy matrimony to Francisca Amaya Turner who survives in Lima.

Mr. Turner retired from Phillips GTE in Ottawa.  He was a former member of Cornerstone Harvest Church.  He was the former president of IBEW Union #1654 and served as the 1 ^st Black Union President in Putnam County.  He loved to bowl, fish and spend time with his family.  He was a Big OSU, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns Fan.

Besides his loving wife Francisca  he leaves to cherish his precious memory 3 sons;  Joel Turner (Talondria) of St. Louis, MO.  Sean L. Turner (Kelly) of Dayton, OH and Rafael DeLeon (Christina) of Waynesfield, Ohio.  4 daughters;  Gina A. Holland (William) of Lima.  Amy F. DeLeon-Hoyt (Brent) of Acworth, GA.  Tiffany J. Spencer (Jonathan) of Dayton, OH and Amaya J. Turner of Columbus, OH.   18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016  at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Austin Lewis, Jr. officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will begin on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery
