Ja'Taven Cotrell Dukes, Sr., age 24, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Lima.

He was born on September 29, 1990 to James and Evelyn G. Jackson Dukes, Jr., both his parents survive in Lima.

He was baptized at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved listening to music and spending time with his friends and children.  He also liked fishing with his Dad.

Besides his parents he leaves to cherish his memory, a son; Ja'Taven C. Dukes, Jr of Lima.  3 daughters; Taylen Dukes, Jayla Dukes and Nevaeh Dukes all of Lima.  4 brothers;  Christopher Allen and Teon Jackson both of Lima.  Terrence Dukes and Dere'K Dukes both of Columbus, Ohio.  2 step-brothers; Ronnie Monroe of W. Virginia and Johnny Cooper of Detroit, MI.  Maternal grandmother; Jacqueline  Worley Jackson of Lima.  A special companion; Nashima Houston of Lima.  Special Brothers; Tyson Henderson, Basil Henderson,  Jr. and  Tony K. Grant. Special friends; Mahasin Ramsey, (mother of Taylen Dukes) Whitney Sanders (mother of Ja'Taven Dukes, Jr.) and Tierra Bagley (mother of Jayla & Nevaeh Dukes).  A host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; Willie J. Jackson and paternal grandparents; James and Catherine Ward Dukes, Sr .
