Obituary of Janet Denise Peterson

Ms. Janet Denise Peterson, age 63, received her wings on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital surrounded by tons of family. She was born on September 4, 1960 in Dade County, Florida to Levy Lee and Alberta (Battle) Peterson.  Both parents preceded her in death.

Ms. Peterson was a retired self-employed child care provider of many years until she was unable to continue. Janet was a member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as the "Baddest" Choir Director for over 55 years. We know that she will be directing the Heavenly Choir. She enjoyed watching Criminal Minds and SCI Miami. She loved supporting her grandchildren in any of their events.  She loved being around family and friends.

Janet leaves to cherish her precious memory 1 daughter:  Eboni D. Peterson of Lima, OH. Her devoted companion for over 34 years, Nathan A. Rhodes, Sr. of Lima, OH.  2 stepchildren:  Mark (Shanette) Barnes, Sr. and Nathan A. Rhodes, Jr., both of LA. 4 sisters:  Evelyn Mark and Doria Clemmons, both of Lima, OH and Adrienne Peterson and Jessica Peterson, both of Milwaukee, WI.  8 brothers: Larry (Janice) Peterson, Sr., Gary Peterson, Sr., James (Anita) Peterson Dillard, all of Lima, OH; Minister Darrin Peterson of Columbus, OH; Jason Peterson, Derek Peterson, and Maurice (Mariah) Peterson all of Milwaukee, WI; Levy Peterson, Jr. of Muskegon, MI.  A sister-in-law: Betty Peterson of Lima, OH.  8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A special godson: Dontez Pryor of Lima, OH.  Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Home Going Services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. B. Lamont Monford Officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held at the church on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
