James O'Neal Simpson "J.O. Soul" , age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 3, 2022. He was born in Towncreek, Alabama on June 12, 1939 to Harry J. Simpson, and Josephine (Harvey) Simpson. Both parents preceded him in death.
James was an avid bowler for 60 years. He started his love for bowling as a pins-setter at Moreo Bowling. He was a member of Northland Bowling League and Westgate Bowling League. He created a League of his own called Simpson & Sons at 20th Century Lane Bowling where the team still bowls in his honor with his special bowling son Rodney Phillips of Lima, OH. He was a one of a kind and he'll be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He also loved music and Stacy Adams shoes.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son: Robert O. Simpson of Lima; 3 daughters, Connie (Steven) Washington of Lima, OH, Tiffany Herron of Ft. Wayne, IN, Cillalisia Wade of Toledo, OH; 4 step-sons, Robert (Debbie) Herron, Melvin (Stephanie) Herron both of Lima, OH, Willie (Cathrine) Herron of Delphos, OH and Edward (Lexi) Herron of Lima, OH; 2 step-daughters, Bonnie (Anthony) Smith of Lima, OH and Annette (Thomas) Senna of Eden, OH; a brother Daniel J. (Kathy) Simpson of Lima, OH; a sister, Mary L. Wash of Lima, OH; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Melba E, Simpson; a daughter, LaRhonda Herron-Davis, 2 brothers, Paul A. Simpson and Larry D. Simpson.
