Mr. Henry Clay Cowan, Sr., age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:25 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on May 16, 1930 in Mt. Hope, Alabama the union of Walter L. and Lucy Mae Willingham Cowan, Sr., both parents preceded him in death.

On November 4, 1988 he was united in holy matrimony to Mae Cindy McGriff, she survives in Lima.

Mr. Cowan retired from Ford Motor Company in 1990 after over 30 years of services.  He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of God In Christ.  He was also  a member of U.A.W. Local Union 1219.

Besides his loving wife Mae, he leaves to cherish his precious memory a son;  Adrian Cowan (Cortesha) of Columbus, Ohio a daughter; Beverly K. Cowan of Dayton, Ohio.  Seven grandchildren, Darian, Ja'Aaron, Cortez, Lindel, Kahlil and six great grandchildren.  Two special granddaughters;  Adrianna Cowan and Latisha Cowan Simmons.  A sister; Lucy M. Davis of Louisville, Kentucky.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sons; Henry C. Cowan, Jr. and Aaron Cowan. Four brothers; Preston J. Brown, Joe Cowan, Archie Cowan and Noble Cowan.   Five sisters; Millie A. Winchester, Rena Cowan, Bertha N. Sargent, Ruby L. Young and Mattie J. Blevins.

Home going services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Olivet Church of God in Christ with Rev. Clarence McGriff, officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held on Thursday,  May 15, 2014 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Clark Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
