Ms. Gloria Shurelds, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:52 a.m. at Cleveland Clinic.
Gloria was born on July 19, 1958, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Willie and Easter (Evans) Smith, who both preceded her in death.
Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by compassion, faith, and service. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse with Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center. Through her work, Gloria touched countless lives with her kindness, professionalism, and gentle spirit.
Gloria was a faithful member of New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church. She served proudly on the usher board and was an active member of the choir, where she joyfully lifted her voice in praise. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she loved serving the Lord and her church family.
Gloria leaves to cherish her loving memory her lifelong companion, Lee Tolbert of Lima, Ohio; two sons, Ronnie Shurelds and Darion (Tashanna) Shurelds, both of Lima, Ohio; and one daughter, Tameeja Vasser of Lima, Ohio. and her Uncle Richard (Debra) Gooding . She also leaves to cherish her memory fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest joys.
She is also survived by two brothers, Curtis Smith and Wayne Smith, both of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Carolyn (LeWayne) Henson of Toledo, Ohio, and Sandra Smith of Lima, Ohio; and a special brother, Ricky Smith of Lima, Ohio, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by five brothers: Willie Smith, Ed Smith, Freddie Smith, Michael Smith, and Gregory Davis.
Gloria will be remembered for her warm smile, caring heart, unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely to her family and everyone blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Homegoing Celebration Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Arnold Manley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
