Obituary

Ms. Glenda Ann Cowan , age 72, passed from this life on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at St. Rita's Medical Center.

Glenda was born on December 15, 1950 in Mount Hope, Alabama to her late parents Noble "Bootsy" and Glennis E. (Suggs) Cowan.  At a young age, she moved with her parents and brother to Lima, Ohio. She was a 1969 graduate of Lima Senior High School. After high school she worked numerous professions including telecommunications, Sunday school teacher, and caregiver. Ms. Cowan was a lifelong learner, earning a degree from Rhodes College and Bachelor of Psychology from Defiance College. She went to own a thrift store, Noble Things, in downtown Lima. A caring person, she consistently provided meals and goods for her chosen community and family. Ask anyone who met her, and they would talk about the smile she put on their face.

Ms. Cowan was a member of Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God-Beulah Chapel.

She is survived by her loving family whom she cherished: Daughters: Angel J. Cowan and Troyce L. Cowan both of Lima, OH; Grandchildren: Lennex Cowan of Austin, TX, Amani Wilkerson of Lima, Malik Cowan of Mesa, AZ, Honesti Cowan of Atlanta, GA, Lauryn Ford of Dallas, TX, and Albert Duncan, Miles Duncan and Arius Duncan, all of Lima; Two great grandchildren: Kylan and Knolan; A bonus daughter, Georgina Williams of Toledo, OH and her children Derrick, Adrian, and Bella. Her siblings: Carl J. Cowan, Larry E. Cowan (Marva), Donald R. "Hayes" Cowan (Florene), Rita M. Cowan-Totty, all of Lima, Sheila M. Cowan of Los Angeles, CA, and Susan M. Turner (Glen) of Seattle, WA, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and other loved ones. She is also survived by three godchildren, Kelsey Cowan, and Denzel and Devonte Sanders.

Alongside her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: David E. Cowan and Cleve Lee Cowan. Paternal grandparents: Walter B. Cowan Sr. and Lucy Cowan; and maternal grandparents: Ellis Lee Suggs and Hattie Mae Suggs; and her best friends: Rose Mitchell, Mary Jane Johnson, and Linda Williams.

Services will be Officiated by Pastor Nathan S. Madison and Eulogized by Pastor Donald R. "Hayes" Cowan.
