Obituary

Geraldine Amerson Spivey, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at approximately 4:18 am at The James Cancer Center.

Geraldine was born on Wednesday, December 20, 1950, in Lima, OH. She was the daughter of Rev. Major and Rosa Bell (Flemon) Amerson Sr., both preceded her in death.

On November 18, 1972, she united in holy matrimony to Robert Lee Spivey, who preceded her in death. Together they shared two children, The late Eric Tremayne Spivey (Mary Teresa) and Ericka Shaunte Spivey.

Geraldine was a faithful and devoted member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where she joyfully lifted her voice in song to glorify the word each and every Sunday. Her love for GOD shined through her music and gentle spirit, touching the hearts of everyone who heard her sing. Through her worship, she inspired others to draw closer to Christ, and her unwavering faith remained a guiding light to all who knew her.

Geraldine attended Lima Senior High School, graduating in 1969. She later attended Northwestern Business College graduating with a Bachelor of Science with a dual major in Business Administration & Accounting.

She dedicated many years of service to Head Start as a secretary, Elder Beerman as a seamstress and retired after 12 years from Lima Minority Contractors Business and Assistance Program as a secretary. She was also a member of the Mission Ministry, the Lima Community Choir, and the Praise Team. She found joy in sewing and baking, but her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family and taking long car rides together. Children were drawn to her warmth and kindness, and she held a special place in their hearts.

Besides her loving daughter Ericka Shaunte Spivey of Lima, OH she leaves to cherish her precious granddaughters; Ti'ara S. Spivey of Columbus, OH and Ti'ana R. Spivey of Lima, OH. 3 sisters; Margaret Jenkins of Killeen TX, Patsy Henderson of Lima OH, and Rosetta Amerson of Columbus, OH. 2 Godchildren; Andrea Geraldine Amerson and Isaiah Hill.

3 sister in-laws; Kathleen Amerson, Velma J. Tigues (Andrew) and Linda A. Spivey. 6 brother-in-laws; Jimmie Tolbert, Jerry Spivey (Emma), Freddie L. Spivey (Teresa), Mack A. Spivey, Willie E. Spivey, and Billy J. Spivey, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Katherine Lindsey, Helen Jean Hall, and Loretta Tolbert and one brother, Major Amerson Jr.

Geraldine was deeply loved and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
