Gerald "Jerry" Bibbs, Sr. Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Bibbs, Sr., age 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2024, at St. Rita's Medical Center, in Lima, Ohio.  He was born on May 29, 1939, in Cedartown, Georgia to Wilbur Bibbs, Sr. and Myrtis Worthey.  Both parents preceded him in death.  In 1964 he married Mattie L. Smith in holy matrimony.  She survives in Lima, Ohio.

Gerald retired from Ford Motor Company.  He attended Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  1 son:  Gerald Bibbs, Jr. of Lima, OH. 3 daughters:  Saundra L. Spence of Cincinnati, OH; Vickie M. Johnson of Ft. Wayne, IN; and Renee Bibbs of Lima, OH.  2 sisters:  Glenda Bibbs Fletcher and Gwendolyn Bibbs Fletcher, both of Georgia.  5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.  Special family members:  Sara Darden (aunt); Tracy and Rahim (niece and nephew); Tyrone and Helen (cousins); Geraldine (cousin); Marcia (cousin); Vanessa (cousin); all of Atlanta, GA.  Joe P., a special brother and John Jon M., a special nephew, both of Lima, OH.  Ralph C., a special son, of Fort Wayne, IN.  A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by 1 son:  Vincent I. Spence and 1 brother:  Wilbur Bibbs, Jr.

Home Going Services will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Madison Officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, also at the church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
