Mr. George Austin III, age 66, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on October 28, 1959, in Columbus, Georgia, to George Austin II and Mary Stovall-Edwards, both of whom preceded him in death.

George was united in love and marriage to Rebecca Austin on September 28th, and the two remained together until his passing. Their love and commitment to one another were a special part of George’s life.

George dedicated 40 years of faithful service to Buckeye Rubber, where he worked until his retirement. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family. In his free time, George enjoyed fishing, boxing, and football, especially cheering on the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

George leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rebecca Austin; two sons, George Austin IV (Angela) and Zashawn Z. Hanthorn, both of Lima, Ohio; and three daughters, India Williams (Leon), Ja’Quaila B. Hall, and Salibrina A. Hanthorn, all of Lima, Ohio.

He is also survived by three brothers, Edward Peter Austin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Arthur L. Austin; and Bernard Austin Sr. (Mary) of Lima, Ohio; four sisters, Diane William of Houston, Texas; Betty James (Melvin) of Columbus, Ohio; Latasha Jefferson (Roderick); and Shameika Payne, both of Lima, Ohio; along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Bunley; daughter, LaRina Flemming; siblings, Albert L. Gordon and Debra Pitts Ulee; grandmother, Lena Wilson Page and nephew Robert Austin 

George’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family will cherish the years they shared with him, the love he gave, and the many memories he leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Jones-Clark Funeral Home Chapel 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
