Obituary

Mr. Frank James Smith, age 84 , passed from this life on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at approximately 1:25 p.m. at   Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born on December 24, 1931 in Yazoo City,    Mississippi to the union of Louis and Jessie Bell Durr Smith; both parents preceded him in death.

On October 24, 1979 he was united in holy matrimony to Bernice Bradley, who preceded him in  death.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He retired from the Oakwood Correction Facility as a Psych attendant.  He was a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a church trustee and a former choir member.  He was a member of Samuel W. Clark Masonic Lodge #67.  He was a 33rd Degree Mason and also a member of the Miami Consistory.  He was also a long-time member of the gospel  vocal group the Friendly Four.  Frank had a full and wonderful life, and he will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.  He is survived by his special friend and longtime companion; Ramoa J. Brown of Lima.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory; eight      children;  Vernon Bradley and Sandy Thurmond both of Lima.  Seallena Thurmond and John Thurmond of Columbus, OH.  Sheala Thurmond  of Cincinnati, OH.  Patricia Thurmond and Gwen Smith both of Atlanta, GA. Michael Thurmond of Everett, WA.  32 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.
