Fay LaVonne Thompson (Laws), age 77, passed away on November 3, 2026, at her residence, at 12:50pm, surrounded by her loving family at home.

Fay was born June 5, 1949 in Lima, Ohio to the late Benjiman Laws Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Pinn) Laws.

On December 7, 1968, Fay married the love her life, Benjamin F. Thompson, who passed September 5, 2017. Together they shared 49 fulfilling years of marriage and loving devotion.

Fay dedicated over 30 years of service working at LG Phillips where she later retired. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her community later led her to working at Speedway for 12 years after retirement. She was a proud member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board as a faithful servant of the lord.

In her free time Fay enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, shopping, and dancing. She was known for her love of the lottery and enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports such as basketball, baseball, football and volleyball. Lovingly referred to as “The Sharks Grandma”.

Fay leaves to cherish her precious memory a son, Damarius A. (A’Zaria) Wright; three daughters, LaShonda R. (Vincent) Thompson-Napier, Karen Y. (Anthony) Tibbs, and Vanessa A. (Roger) Yard. Nine grandchildren; Ashely (Lydell), Misty, Adreine, Aricka, Jar’Quevias, Jari’Ay, Tre’Mauni, Prince, and Tre’Von. Fifteen great-grandchildren; Zierre, Tierre, Janiaus, MiSharriey, Nierre, NaZhir, ZahNi, MiYaanah, Mecca, TiMhya, Timothy, Jia, Que’Miaur, A’Zaylion, and Safari. As well as three brothers; William H. Laws of Chicago, IL, Jerry L. Laws, and Pastor Julius Laws both of Lima, Ohio. Six sisters; Minister Janice S. Cage of Florence, AL, Joyce A. Laws, Mildred D. (James) Wall, Kimberly Laws, LaKesha Laws, and LaTrisha (Erick) Alexander all of Lima, Ohio. A special son; Torrey Knight. Her in-laws; Anthony (Sherry) Thompson, Mozella (Peter) Ford, Janice Ford, Debra (David) Baugh and Tia (Trevor) Crenshaw. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Thompson, and her siblings Benjamin Laws Jr., Allen J. Laws, Anthony R. Laws, Audrey Hall, and Wanda J. Laws.

Services for Mrs. Fay LaVonne Thompson will be held Thursday, November 12, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm, with family present from 6pm-8pm at 4th Street Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026 at 12pm with Pastor Julius Laws officiating.

Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
