Elizabeth Cowan, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at approximately 2:57 p.m. at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on November 3, 1927 in Mt. Hope, Alabama to the union of Ellis and Hattie Mae Gasaway Suggs, both her parents preceded her in death.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Walter A. Cowan, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 24, 1982.

Mrs. Cowan retired as a Nurses Aid from Lima Manor Nursing Home.   She was a former member of Mt.  Zion Holy Union Church (Beulah Chapel).  She was presently a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the Mother's Board, a member of the Minnie Elkins Missionary Group and she worked on the kitchen committee at both churches.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons.  David Cowan (Monica)  of Lima and  Andre Jones (Darlene) of Richmond, IN.  A daughter:  Mildred Cowan Harrison (Abron) of Lima.  Two brothers:  Charlie Suggs (Gardie) of Molton, AL, James P. Suggs, (Lonnie) of Lima and a sister:  Evangelist Nadine Young of Molton, AL.  35 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.  A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by 4 sons:  Walter Cowan, Charles Cowan, Winifred Cowan and   Billy Young. Three daughters:  Bobbie Jo Cowan and Gladys Cunningham and a stillborn daughter.    Two sisters:  Glennis Cowan and Rosa Mae Freeman.

Services will be held on   Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church.   Rev. Earnest Stephens, Jr., officiating.

Visitation will be held at Jones-Clark Funeral Home on December 29, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present at 6:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m.
