Mrs. Earnestine McClain Chambers, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at approximately 9:47 p.m. at Baton Rouge Health Services Community in Lima.
Mrs. Chambers was born on June 3, 1923 in Florence, Alabama to the union of Earnest and Lucinda Patton McClain; both parents preceded her in death.
She was educated in the Florence School System and for many years has been loving referred to as "Ms. Little-Bit".
On November 30, 1980 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Brown Chambers, Jr., he preceded her in death on November 7, 2011. They worked together to raise their children in a loving Christian atmosphere. She loved the Lord and her family, she was always willing to help others in any way she could. She invited Christ into her life at an early age and became as active church member, in Florence, Alabama. Later in her life she moved to Lima, Ohio and united with the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church, where she has faithfully served for many years. She served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher; she was a member of the Senior Choir, the Mothers Ministry, the Seniors Ministry and the Kitchen Ministry. She was also a member of Church Women United.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory 5 stepsons; Art Chambers and Norman (Sharon) Chambers both of Lima. Cullen Chambers of Los Angeles, CA, David (Sharon) Chambers and Greg Chambers both of Lake Elsinore, CA. Four stepdaughters; Mary (Bobby) Monford and Carol Florence both of Lima. Jamesy (Derick) Renfro of Jacksonville, FL and Jollon (Anthony) Duncan of Beason, Illinois. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A sister; Willie Grace (Owen) Johnson of Brooklyn, New York. A host of nieces, nephews, a large church family, a host of extended family members other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Benny McClain and John McClain. 4 sisters; Mary McKinney, Alberta Huggins, Margaret Amos and Laurena Collier.
Home going services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. B. LaMont Monford, Sr., officiating.
Visitation/wake services will begin at 10:00 am. until time of services.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
