Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Lawson , age 95, went into the warm embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by loved ones and friends. She was born in Forsythe, Georgia on November 23, 1927 to Gus Watkins and Adela Watkins. Both parents preceded her in death.

She was united in holy matrimony to Early C. Lawson on October 10, 1951. Early preceded her in on January 2005.

Doris was the youngest of 5 brothers and 5 sisters. She accepted the Lord and joined the church at an early. She sponsored the demolition of the Old Second Baptist Church and served as a missionary for many years at Second Baptist Church. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23. She loved the Lord and was a faithful prayer warrior clear to the end of her life. Her hobbies were sewing and making exotic quilts, playing bingo and watching Wheel of Fortune.

Doris leaves to cherish her precious memories a niece, Catherine Esters; a great-niece, LaQuita Esters; a nephew, James C. Lawson Jr.; a great-nephew, James C. Lawson III; special friends, Oscar and Flo Marshall; great caregivers, Gina Daughtery and Michelle Remy along with other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
