Obituary

Myles Smith, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2024, at his residence at the age of 91.  He was born April 23, 1933, in Holly Bluff, Mississippi to Miles Thompson and Cornilus Smith.

At the age of 7, he was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Nathan and Annie Mae (Henry) Smith.  His parents and grandparents preceded him in death.

In November of 2002, he was united in holy matrimony to Debra (Roddy) Jordan who survives in Lima, OH.

Mr. Smith worked at Lima Ford Motor Plant as a Follow-up Inspector for 30 years.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir, and was a Deacon at Second Baptist Church.  In his younger years, he loved to travel.  Myles was a wonderful and loving family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory in addition to his wife Debra; 1 son:  Darnell Smith of Lima, OH; 4 daughters:  Debra Johnson and Fonda Smith both of Atlanta, GA; Pamela Smith of Cincinnati, OH; and Patrica (James) Carter of Columbus, OH.  A Stepdaughter:  Yanoica Simpson of Lima, OH.  He was blessed with 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.  2 sisters:  Tempy Anderson of Lima, OH, and Queenie Harris of Atlanta, GA.  A special daughter-in-law:  Tameka Roddy; a special niece and nephew:  Robin and David Clay.  A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepson Nathanael Roddy, Sr. and grandson Nathanael Roddy, Jr.  6 brothers:  Nathan Smith, Jr., James Smith, Charles Smith, Willie Smith, Cary Smith, and John Smith.  2 sisters:  Willie M. Anderson and Pinnie Washington.

Home Going Services will be held Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held Monday, October 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, also at the church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
