Deacon Ira Cunningham, age 82, passed from this life on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at approximately 9:58 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on February 1, 1943 in Florence, Alabama, to Ira and Pearleen (Rhodes) Cunningham.  Both parents preceded him in death.

On April 7, 1964 he was united in holy matrimony to Corinna Turner who survives in Lima.

Deacon Cunningham retired from General Motors and he also worked at Sears for 15 years. Deacon Cunningham was a High School Hall of Fame Football player from Burrell Slater High School in Florence, AL. He was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board.  He was in the Layman's Chorus and a member of U.A.W. Local 211.

Besides his loving wife Corinna he leaves to cherish his precious memory a son; Shouri Cunningham of Lima.  2 daughters; Andrea Gordon of Atlanta, GA and Tonya Cunningham of Lima. 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 2 sisters; Virginia Hill (Lafayette ) of Florence, AL and Helen Ingram of Syracuse, NY. A brother-in-law; David W. Turner of Lima.  2 sisters-in-law: Ruth Hamilton and Glenda Foster both of Lima.  A special aunt; Lillie Cunningham.  A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Cierra Cunningham and a sister; Willa Dean Cole Younger.

Home Going Services will be held Monday, March 10, 2025   at 12:00 p.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Lewis, Jr., officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025   at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
