Obituary of   Cullen L. Dillard

Mr. Cullen L. Dillard, age 94, passed from this life on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Springview Manor in Lima, Ohio.  He was born on September 3, 1929 Andrew and Lizzie (Peterson) Dillard.  Both parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Dillard married Julia M. (Owens) on October 13, 1949 until her passing on February 8, 2011.

Cullen accepted Christ at an early age.  He was a faithful member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church.  Cullen retired from the Ohio Steel Foundry (Teledyne) after working 45 years as a crane operator.  He was a former baseball player and former member of Thunder Riders Motorcycle Club, the first Black motorcycle club in Lima, OH.

Cullen leaves to cherish his precious memory 2 daughters: Lillie B. Dillard-Haywood and Julia B. (Carl) Powell, both of Lima, OH.  4 grandchildren who he cherished:  LaShane (Sharrieff) Relford of Lima, OH; Carlisha (Quinton) Powell-Gary; and Sean (Hannah) Powell, all of Lima, OH; and Torrick Powell of Aubrey, TX.  11 great grandchildren: T'Ana, Dameer, Darius, T'Asiah, Jayden, JaCari, Chaleese, JaKya, Brielle, Londyn, and Jaxon.  2 ½ great-great grandchildren.  A host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years and a son in love, Paul A. Haywood.  6 brothers:  Daniel Dillard; David Dillard; Leavie Dillard; Berry Dillard; Abe Dillard; and Andrew Dillard.  7 sisters:  Martha Cole; Annie Sims;

Margaret Coleman; Victoria Dillard; Tillie Landers; Mittie Cobb; and Fannie Pitts.

Home going services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. B. Lamont Monford officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held at the church on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
