Obituary

Corrie M. Young of Lima, Ohio, departed this world on February 16, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on July 28, 1936, in the quaint town of Werton, West Virginia, Corrie's journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication, creativity, and an indomitable spirit that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A cherished member of her community, Corrie devoted 32 years of her professional life to General Motors, where she not only forged a career but also became an esteemed member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Her contributions to the workforce were grounded in her belief in solidarity and empowerment, principles she held dear throughout her life.

Corrie's creativity knew no bounds, as she found joy in expressing herself through fashion. Her passion for design allowed her to bring forth imaginative ideas into tangible realities, crafting beautiful garments for what she affectionately termed her "big beautiful women." This creative pursuit was more than just a hobby; it was a manifestation of her deep appreciation for beauty in all forms.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Corrie worshiped at the Methodist Church of Kokomo, Indiana. Her spiritual foundation guided her in every aspect of her life, shaping her interactions and fostering a sense of community that extended beyond the walls of the church.

She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Lisa D. Young of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tonya D. (Deric) Colbert of Lima, Ohio, and Willa Dudley of Columbus, Ohio, who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. 2 Grandchildren: Shanika (Michael) Bundrage, and Jasamin Young and many great-grandchildren. Corrie found great solace and joy in her relationships with her three sisters, Lillian Washington, Viola "Baby Doll" Mitchell and Loretta Lee, who stood by her side in both moments of joy and sorrow. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Though she faced the heartache of losing her beloved son, Charles L. Young Jr., as well as her siblings Andrew Jerry Jeter, twin brother Coyet Jeter Jr., Gladys Wade, Jacquelyn Simpson, Mary Bell Jeter and Louella Wortham and grandson Jawan Young. Corrie's enduring spirit soared above the trials of life, creating a rich tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and resilience.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of Corrie M. Young, let us carry forward her legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering strength. A life lived fully and vibrantly, Corrie leaves behind a resounding echo of warmth in the hearts of those she touched. Her journey, while concluding in the comfort of her home, continues to inspire those who had the honor of knowing her.
